Pneumatic

In industrial automation we use the EN ISO 4414:2010 as standard for pneumatic installations in machinery.
A lot of designers use there experience to determine the tube diameter.
Based on the amount of air through a tube, in a table you can find the diameter which can be used.
The amount of possible pressure drop is often overlooked. In the industry a pressure drop
from supply to the "user" my not exceed the 40.000 Pascal (40 kPa) of 0,4 bar.
A biger tube diameter could contribute to a lower pressure drop.
To make sure you comply to this requirement, you shall calculate the tube diameter.

Simplifying the calculations in pneumatic systems you can download a calculation tool here.
